Range extender#
Block appearance in REPEAT VISION#
This unit is a model of a generator (range extender) that provides charging of the traction battery while driving, increasing the range of the hybrid vehicle.
Operating principle:
The output electrical power of the generator is determined by interpolation using the tabular dependence of power on the speed of movement P_RE(V).
The specific fuel consumption is determined by interpolation according to the tabular dependence of the fuel efficiency indicator on the output power n_eff(P_RE).
The fuel tank model is represented by an integrator that subtracts from the initial fuel level the consumption calculated based on the current power and efficiency.
Key customizable features:
Generator parameters (P3X):
Speed points V (m/s) and Power points P_RE(V) (kW) — define the dependence of the available electric power on the vehicle speed.
Power points P_RE (kW) and efficiency point n_eff(P_RE) (l/(kW \(\cdot\) h)) — define the dependence of specific fuel consumption (liters per generated kW \(\cdot\) h) on the current generator power.
Fuel system parameters:
Fuel tank capacity P3X (l) - full capacity of the tank.
Initial fuel level (l) – initial amount of fuel.
Critical fuel level (l) is the minimum remaining fuel level at which the generator is switched off to prevent the engine from running without fuel.
Automatic control logic (automation): The generator is switched on and off according to the following conditions, prioritizing the protection of components:
Power On: Triggered when the Battery Level of Charge (SOC) drops below the power-on threshold (e.g. 50%).
Shutdown: Triggered by any of the following conditions:
SOC reaches a shutdown threshold (e.g. 80%).
The battery temperature exceeds a critical threshold (e.g. 60°C).
The fuel level in the tank drops below the critical minimum (for example, 0.1 l).
