Thermal resistance#

block

Block appearance in REPEAT VISION#

 The Thermal resistance block simulates heat transfer in a general form, regardless of simulated heat exchange type.

 The equation for heat flux is (1):

(1)#\[Q=\frac{T_1-T_2}{R}\]

where:

 \(R\) - thermal resistance;

 \(T_1\) – temperature at the block inlet;

 \(T_2\) – temperature at the block outlet.

Relation of thermal resistance to other characteristics (2):

(2)#\[R=\frac{b}{\lambda \cdot F}=\frac{1}{\alpha \cdot F}=\frac{1}{k\cdot F \cdot (T_1^2+T_2^2)\cdot (T_1+T_2)}\]

where:

 \(b\) - distance between design layers;

 \(\lambda\) - thermal conductivity coefficient of the material;

 \(F\) - surface area of the heat exchange;

 \(k\) - radiation coefficient.

 Type of thermal resistance

 The user can choose the type of thermal resistance:

  • Constant - The thermal resistance is specified in the block properties.

  • Variable - thermal resistance is set through the block port and can be a function of time.
