Fuel Cell#

block

Block appearance in REPEAT VISION#

 The Fuel Cell block simulates the fuel celloperation that converts the chemical hydrogen energy into electrical energy. The block is described by the following equations (1) :

\[E_{\mathrm{c}\mathrm{e}\mathrm{l}\mathrm{l}} =\mathrm{ }\mathrm{E}_{\mathrm{o}\mathrm{c}}-N_{\mathrm{c}\mathrm{e}\mathrm{l}\mathrm{l}\mathrm{s}}\mathrm{ }\mathrm{A}_{\mathrm{t}\mathrm{a}\mathrm{f}\mathrm{f}}\cdot \mathrm{l}\mathrm{n}\left(\frac{i_{\mathrm{f}\mathrm{c}}}{i_{0}}\right) \]
\[ \mathrm{T}\mathrm{ }\frac{\mathrm{d}\mathrm{V}_{d}}{d_{t}} +\mathrm{ }\mathrm{V}_{d} =R_{d}i_{\mathrm{f}\mathrm{c}} \]
(1)#\[ \mathrm{U}\mathrm{ }=N_{\mathrm{u}\mathrm{n}\mathrm{i}\mathrm{t}\mathrm{s}} \cdot \mathrm{ }\mathrm{E}_{\mathrm{c}\mathrm{e}\mathrm{l}\mathrm{l}} -R_{i}\mathrm{ }\mathrm{i}_{\mathrm{f}\mathrm{c}} -\mathrm{ }\mathrm{V}_{d} \]

Where:

 \(E_{cell}\) - Nernst’s tension;

 \(E_{oc}\) - idle voltage;

 \(N_{cells}\) - Number of cells in the module;

 \(A_{taff}\) - Tafel’s coefficient;

 \(i_{fc}\) - current through the fuel cell;

 \(i_0\) - rated exchange current of the fuel cell;

 \(V_d\) - fuel cell capacitive voltage;

 \(R_d\) - the sum of activation resistance and concentration;

 \(R_i\) - internal resistance;

 \(T\) - time constant;

 \(N_{units}\) - number of modules activated sequentially;

 \(U\) - voltage at the fuel cell output.
