Static capacitor bank (series activation)#

block

Block appearance in REPEAT VISION#

 The Static capacitor bank (series activation) block simulates a three-phase battery of static capacitors (BSC) connected longitudinally with regard to a power transmission line (PTL) in order to compensate the reactive power consumedby PTL due to its inductive properties.

 Mathematically, this block is a negative reactance (capacitance),calculated by the following formula when the capacitors in the bankare connected as per a star circuit: (1) :

(1)#\[ X_{\mathrm{с}}=\frac{U_{\mathrm{н}\mathrm{о}\mathrm{м}}^{2}}{Q_{\mathrm{н}\mathrm{о}\mathrm{м}}} \]

where:

 \(U_{rat}\) - rated bank voltage, [kV];

 \(Q_{rat}\) - bank rated reactive power, [Mvar].

 When the capacitors in the bank are connected as per a triangularcircuit, the phase resistance is calculated as: (2) :

(2)#\[ X_{\mathrm{с}}=\frac{3\cdot \mathrm{}U_{\mathrm{н}\mathrm{о}\mathrm{м}}^{2}}{Q_{\mathrm{н}\mathrm{о}\mathrm{м}}} \]

 The triangular circuit is used in BSC with rated voltage up to 1 [kV]. The block automatically calculates the resistance using the appropriateformula under rated voltages up to 1 [kV].
